What to do in Paris?

Sorry for the vague, vague question, but I'm going with 3 friends thurs 31 may-6 june and we have all been to Paris before.
We are girls our 20's and since we've been to see the classics we would like the modern, non-typical-touristy side of paris. Good areas for bars, new galleries, quirky events and other recommendations would be great! Thanks

Bercy is "new/modern"... Musee Quai Branley is new, modern exterior... don't know about galleries or bars.

Peruse the Parisinfo.com website or "spectacles" on FNAC.com for events....

Rd Apr 24th, 2007 06:40 AM

What to do in Paris? dear oh dear!!!

bob_brown Apr 24th, 2007 09:10 AM

I agree with Rd.
Only with less patience.

Get a book and read it!!

Robespierre Apr 24th, 2007 09:14 AM

1. Find a newsstand.
2. Purchase a Pariscope.
3. Read it.

DanM Apr 24th, 2007 09:24 AM

Very nice of ira. My response would have been flip to say the least.

tod Apr 24th, 2007 09:43 AM

ira has given you loads to digest. I reckon you three are ready for kong.fr

tod Apr 24th, 2007 09:45 AM

Should read www.kong.fr

travel_buzzing Apr 26th, 2007 01:23 AM

God what a bunch of vultures!!

thanks those who actually suggested something (ira/travel nut) and no thanks to sneering responses lacking any insight!.
I was asking for an insiders view, as I did say we had all been to see the typical stuff before. i meant we want ideas for random adventure type stuff.
Do i have to repeat myself?

robespierre- i think i'll see if paris scope is online, although i dont think i like your tone haha

Rd- I tried to keep the question as general as possible to get the most amount of feedback baby

oh well.....

travel_buzzing Apr 26th, 2007 01:33 AM

N.b. Guide books and mags are always full of ads laced with reviewed, hidden ads.

There is always this thread on atypical things to do in Paris...

Sorry Travel buzz I repeat what to do in Paris? oh dear oh dear. I have spent a whole week there and never came close to scratching the surface...err baby!

travel_buzzing Apr 26th, 2007 03:14 AM

well Rd isn't that why im asking people on the forummmmm........ (im pre-emptively scratching the surface, baby)

Dukey Apr 26th, 2007 03:20 AM

I think you definitely need to at least consider Tod's suggestion rather than wading through that so-called "superthread"

BTW..vultures have this absolutely uncanny knack for detecting roadkill.

travel_buzzing Apr 26th, 2007 03:30 AM

by the way kwren: EXCELLENT thank you

Dukey- i had a brief look at tods suggestion, although grateful that it was a suggestion and not another wry comment, ehm its bizarre.
and 'roadkill' would be a smart one if it wasnt so ironic.

Hi travel buzzing,

I don't think any of us are critical of you for trying to plan ahead, but (speaking at least for my reaction) for your lack of desire to do any work yourself. You dismiss any guidebooks and apparently haven't looked at any online sources; you could have found the threads ira posted with a quick text search here.

I occasionally teach college-level English courses, and I find this tendency in a lot of young folks today -- the tendency to want the results without the work. It depresses me.

Oops! careful swandav2000 she bites.

swandav2000 Apr 26th, 2007 03:48 AM

Ah, Rd, better folks than she have tried. I'm still kickin'

s

travel_buzzing Apr 26th, 2007 03:57 AM

young folks. and im not doing any work for myself. your generalisation about "youth" depresses me. Imagine if I had left out the part about us being "girls in our 20's".
If everyone did their own research work, this forum would not need to exist. I'm doing a good share of online research thanks, but i thought i might get some personal recommendations for the above.
