What to do in London?
 

We will be visiting London for the 2nd time in March with our teenagers. On our first trip we did all the touristy things like Buckingham Palace, Big ben etc.

Any suggestions for anything interesting...we love walking. Someone suggested Covent Gardens.

Also any good restaurants for Fish and Chipas?

Could you give us a bit more detail on the touristy things you've already done - and when you were last in London.

I suspect they'll be at least major thing that you missed the last time or has opened since you were in London last

You can always go to Hampton Court Palace, Kew Gardens, or Windsor - which are often missed first time around.

If you don't know what to do then why visit for a second time?

I'm sure that this board can give you all the answers to your questions. Trawl through the infinite number of posts on such items, fish and chips included, then return with some more focuses questions.

Have you done any of the museums?

Tower of London?

And for day trips:

Windsor Castle (about 30 minutes)
Warwick Castle
Boat trip to Hampton court Palace with maze
Spend the day at Greenwich (Cutty Sark, Maritime Museum, Prime Meridien) - go by boat or train

Covent Garden, London Eye, a boat trip up the Thames to Greenwich, Camden Town (I think the market is only on the weekend - check that out).

Give us a hint what you saw last time. Big Ben and Buckingham Palace are both merely "walk by's" and take mere minutes to see. (except if you went inside B'ham Palace in Aug/Sept)

If you consider them as "all the touristy things" I suspect you've barely scratched the surface. So tell us what you visited before and what you enjoyed and then we can give you useful advice.

We are going to London to meet up with my husband who is working overseas so we need some fun things that all 4 of us will enjoy.

Last trip was May 2006 and we did:
-tower london
-london dungeon
-trafalgar square
-London eye
-hung around Picadilly Circus
-walked thru Covent Gardens.

I thought perhaps the theatre, Madamme Tussauds, Hyde Park on Sunday.

My son is into sports big time but London is not really a sport town except for soccer.

Please do not go to the wax museum.

Include some museums like:

Courtauld Gallery
National Gallery
Tate Britain
Cabinet War Rooms

The theatre would also be a good idea.

It's 'Covent Garden' not 'Covent Gardens'.

My teen enjoyed the Cabinet War Rooms. Also Westminster Abbey - so many monuments to people they may have studied in school. The "Poet's Corner" there is very interesting. Another vote for the Cabinet War Rooms. I've been with teens, and they were fascinated, as was I.
