Would be fun to see hausfrau justify american education system but nona has said it right. Lets not scare first timers. Not all of us dream of london all the time.

She got a several good suggestions including the ones that pointed her to the "destination" part of this web site. If you can find your way to "talk", you can certainly make it to "destinations" without too much effort.

I can certainly understand the "never wanted to go to London" part. I "never wanted to go to the US" and now I've lived here for thirty years! LOL!

Don't waste the nights! Go to the theatre as often as you can afford. I always get tickets at Leicester Square, the earlier the better.

Last time we stayed on Russell Square, near Bloomsbury and the British Museum. Next time I'll stay somewhere else to see different sights, like the V & A Museum.

I love markets and had a great time at Covent Garden, alone.

Poor waterlily is, as they say, as visible as snow in Florida!

Thanks for your polite responses, hausfrau! I'm sure that waterlily was just seeking honest answers to her questions, sans all the judgment and hair-splitting! And I agree, she probably won't be back...

Actually - she has posted as recently as 2 days ago.

If you read over this whole thread there were only 2 or 3 sarcastic posts and not nearly as bad as some you see.

The main points others tried to make were that waterlily needs to work w/ us here - what sorts of things do they enjoy? What is their budget? things like that.

She has chosen not to - which is fine. But w/o some feedback from them, anything we'd recommend are sort of shots in the dark.
