Villa Balbianello.

You can only get there by boat. Your hotel can set it up for you. You might even want to arrange it by e-mailing or telephoning in advance.

Search for more infor about this extraordinary place, here on this forum: "Balbianello".

Best wishes,

Rex
Villa Carlotta is lovely. The gardens are especially interesting and worth seeing. Ferry from Bellagio. Also, the cemetery in Varenna was interesting.

My wife ands I stayed at Villa d'Este last May. Though I cannot remember the name of the restaurant, it's literally right outside of the gates to the hotel. When you leave the Hotel, about 100 yards into town on the right, is a great place for pasta, the best margarita pizza I have ever had, nice proprieters, and a relaxing atmosphere. I am in the restaurant business myself, and if you can find the place, go!

The entire town of Varenna. When you walk through this small town, you'll feel like you're in an Italian movie. Also, the Villa Monastero in Varenna.
As for restaurants, there's Bilacus in Bellagio.

My mother has been to Lake Como four times. Her absolute favorite restaurant is The Embarcadero. She says it's not to be missed.
