What to do in Burgundy besides wine

Looking on spending three days in Burgandy in July. My husband isnt drinking wine right now (unfortunately) so will there be other things to interest us besides wine. We will of course still go to a wine tasting or two but its not so much fun if you cant taste!

Hi Kate, My husband and I are leaving for our 7th trip to France in April. One of our favorite spots is Burgundy! We stayed at Chateau de Messey - awesome B & B! I love Tournus, Brancion, Cluny and just taking in the beautiful hills and valleys. Have fun! Patti

Not sure if this is of interest to you but I did a balloon ride over the countryside and thought it was a wonderful experience.

Hi K,

You might want to find time to visit Dijon and Beaune.

Will you have a car?

We plan to take the train to Dijon and rent a car there to tour around.
I have thought of staying in Dijon but we are coming from London and ending in Paris so I am thinking we might want some countryside time??

Patti, Thanks for that info. I am not as familar with the area you describe but will definately look into it. I have been looking more around Beaune to Dijon. Are you familar with that area and how would it compare to yours?

Hi Kate.

Burgundy is amazing. The best guidebook I could find about area, which helped us a lot, was Michelin's Burgundy Green Guide.

The medieval villages are wonderful. Many are situated along the so-called Pilgrimage Road to Santiago. All kinds of tales accompany the architecture. Vezelay, a hilltop town, has an amazing 12th century abbey church, complete with fascinating sculptures of medieval peasants on their pilgrimage journey.

Then there's Beaune, with its incredible tiled-roofed hospital that will knock your socks off, and Dijon -- a truly beautiful and interesting city.

You may want to leave the rental car in Dijon and take the TGV back to Paris.

Bon Voyage!
