What to do in Asolo?

We will be traveling to Asolo in Veneto in mid September. Any suggestions?

We visited Asolo last October and loved it for its charm and beauty..it is an upscale town with lovely streets and courtyards, flowers were everywhere. Mainly it was our pleasure to just walk the streets as the Museo Civico was closed while we were there. We had lunch at Ca'Derton, close to the town center and left afterwards to travel to Maser, about 5-6 miles away....the Villa Barbaro is there, the highlight of our day. We were there on an open day for touring and if you can arrange that, I highly recommend it....it was really beautiful to see...inside and out...we had a car which made this all fairly easy....I do believe there is bus service between the towns though. Asolo is really small, so splitting the day between it and Maser makes for a very nice day.

There is a beautiful tomb near Asolo, built for the Brion family by Carlo Scarpa, a famous contemporary Italian architect. You can google "Scarpa's tomb", or look at this article from the New York Times.

Asolo is very tiny and very pricey, too. We have stayed nearby in even tiny-er Paderno every spring for several years. My wife wrote a piece about things to do in the Asolo area which is posted on the SlowTrav. com website. Check it out:
