What to do ??? (Belgium or not?)
As most of you probably know Belgium has passed a new non-smoking law as of 01.01.07. The hotels where I have reservations suddenly aren't allowed to have smoking permitted rooms anymore. I am given to understand that the rule applies to B&Bs as well.
Please don't tell me to stop smoking. That is my business alone. My question is two fold. 1. Does anyone know of budget flats/rooms for rent in central Brussels and Antwerp? In Brugge I am set. An internet site that has such for tourists would be very much appreciated! 2. My flight is via Madrid. Perhaps after Amsterdam, instead of going on to Belgium I could go direct to Madrid and spend the second week in Spain? Anyone familiar with the smoking laws there? All advice appreciated ! Thanks. |
All I can say is Thank God! Well done Belgium.
Who wants to smell like an ashtray when spending thousands on a vacation? |
News Flash: Smokers are no longer permitted entry to the EU - think Switzerland!

hey Bob, maybe while they are gone the US will ban smokers too and they will not be able to return....gee I wonder if Switzerland can hold them all?

Smoking is still allowed in hotel rooms, but not in public areas in the hotel.
You can try the Cammerpoorte Hotel in Antwerp. It has a very central location, only 200 meters from cathedraland it is not expensive. |
Why not simply do what smokers in New York do - go outside when you need a cigarette? (You may as well get used to it - it's coming almost everywhere soon.)

I agree with nytraveler. How much time are you going to spend smoking in a hotel room?

I'm heading to Belgium this spring, and this is great news!
