"I didn't know they had donuts in London - thought it was a North American thing haha."
They are all over the world, my favourites are Polish. Canadians apparently have the highest doughnut consumption per capita in the world. |
Just to steer us off doughnuts for a moment (as a fellow Canadian, I confess, it will be a brief moment)...
Dear Canandianfamily: There is a store in the Shakespeare Globe Theatre that has VERY creative souveneirs. There are lovely and very sturdy canvas bags with quotes on them that are extremely useful back home in this era of the (mercifully) disappearing plastic grocery bag |
When I visit London I always go to Butler & Wilson in South Molton Street, Simon Wilson makes fab jewellery, he has lots of famous fans and its always in magazines. Anything in Harrods just for the bag.
|
Seaside 'brown-oil-and-conveyer-belt' doughnuts are the best!
|
Thanks everybody for the great suggestions!
Audere - what is cheaper in London in regards to nonperishable food items and body products (ie. soaps, lotions, shaving kits)? |
With the current exchange rate, I can't think of anything that is 'cheaper' in London. London and cheap are an oxymoron.
|
It's not so much that things are "cheaper" allthough no doubt some things are - I'm not exactly conversant with the prices in Canada, and we don't sell beaverskin hats and moose-repellent here anyway.
It's just that there are some things you can only get here - Liberty's products, football shirts, proper suits and shirts, Trumpers hair products (for blokes) Gentleman's Relish, Twiglets etc. |
No need to go to London for Trumpers. Nordstrom's has carried it for more than 10 years.
|
Mebbe (whatever a Nordstroms is) but his barbers shop, where he actually works is in Curzon St - so it would have added cachet. Innit.
