What time does Angelina's open?
 

I want to stop by Angelina's in Paris, in the morning, for a cup of hot chocolate, but cannot find what time they open. I have looked on Pagesjaunes, searched this thread, and looked for their website, but cannot discover their hours of operation.

Anyone know?

They serve breakfast so I'd guess they open at 9 or before.

OMG that sounds wonderful, mclaurie. I'm an early riser, and I can think of nothing nicer than to stroll over to Angelina's at the crack of dawn on my first morning to have some chocolate and sinful pastry while my wife and SIL get themselves together. Maybe read the IHT as I watch the passing parade.

Anyone else know exactly when the doors open.

Angelina's opens at 9:00 on weekends and 9:30 on weekdays . . . . . .

Thank you, Janisj. I'm usually up at 6:00 (OFS - Old Fart's Syndrome), so I'll have to find something to do until 9:00. There are worse things to do than wandering the early morning streets of Paris.

Angelina's chocolate is literally molten chocolate bars that are an extremely strong, extremely rich dark chocolate. Left to cool it will harden. Many people (including myself) find it almost impossible to drink at 4pm unless cut with copious amounts of cream. Personally, I cannot imagine drinking it at 9am.

I did not think I would ever meet the dark chocolate I wanted to stop eating, but Angelina's was the limit.

I much preferred the "chocolat chaud ancienne" at Le Flore en Ile, which is at the tip of St Louis Ile (cross the bridge directly behind Notre Dame). The view is unbeatable, the atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant, and the thick and authentic Parisian hot chocolate, with a pain du chocolat, is this chocoholic's dream breakfast.

Thank you so much! I will put that on the list. It is not that much further a walk form our apartment, and I can save the Angelina's chocolate orgy for later in the day, so I an watch DW and SIL gorge while I down a Perrier -- and look smug.

I remember all the tiny Parisian ladies in Angelina's in the afternoon, with a pot of hot chocolate and a Mont Blanc each. My friends and I would get only the chocolate, until one day we decided to try it as the women were doing. Even when two of us <i>shared</i> the pastry, it was too much and we had to leave it on the plate! Just that mouthful of sugary meringue was enough to send us over the edge. Mmm, but the chocolate is to die for, and I try to visit Angelina's every time I return to Paris...

Well - I handle the overload at Angelina's by having a pastry w/ either iced tea or mineral water -- and THEN I follow up w/ hot chocolate as dessert's &quot;dessert&quot;. I don't think I could drink the chocolate w/ pastry/sweets.

i must be one of the few who is not impressed with angelina's chocolate nor service.???

Actually, I'm with you, lincasanova. It was interesting to have a sip of Angelina's chocolate, but I actually didn't care for it and wouldn't return for it. I much preferred the hot chocolate at Le Flore en Ile. My server at Angelina's was fine but the over-the-top dainty parlor decor, with all the linen, silver, mirrors, crystal and china is not my cuppa. I prefer a more informal joint myself when I'm behaving like a pig.

However, it's so popular I wouldn't discourage somebody from trying it for themselves.
