what TOpeka? i would never suggest that. i was born and raised in ks and that is why my family move to Texas. did not really care for kansas. i prefer the city or a more diversified area! i love San Antonio and lived there for 3 years. i now reside in NC and soon moving to the uk!

My choices: <BR>1. NYC: Obvious choice, but one of the great cities of the world. After seeing the Met, a Broadway show, Statue of Liberty, Central Park, The Cloisters, a Yankee baseball game, and a few other museums if so inclined, would do day trips to West Point and Hudson Valley. <BR>2. Charleston, S.C.: Quintessential Southern charm, lots to do, including carriage rides, walk around the Battery and Straw Market, boat ride to Fort Sumter, tour Navy vessels at Patriot's Point, Sullivan's Island, go to the beach nearby at Isle of Palms, Folly Beach or down to Hilton Head. Definitely try the Southern cuisine, including she-crab soup, catfish, hush puppies, and pecan pie. <BR>3. Someplace in the West. After getting a taste of the Northeast in NY, the south in Charleston, I would think a European would like to sample our West. Depending on their likes and dislikes, they might choose San Francisco, for metropolitan tastes; Dallas or Houston for "cowboy" touch; Santa Fe for southwestern flavor, or Denver, for that mile-high feeling! You asked for cities, but the Grand Canyon and environs would also be a good choice for a glimpse of the Wild West.

It's tough without knowing a month or season (OK you lucky Californians but what about the rest of us!) <BR>I'd vote: <BR>1. Chicago (recently visited and it's fantastic and a beautiful downtown!) <BR>2. San Diego (fun-loving people and the best weather in the world) <BR>3. San Francisco (the closest thing to a European city we have so they'd feel at home) <BR>(close runner up would be Las Vegas just because it is such a unique one of a kind city worldwide!)

In no particular order <BR> <BR>Boston - really is the most european city - charming, historic, and cosmopolitan. <BR> <BR>New York - Needs no explanation. No other city in the world like it. <BR> <BR>San Francisco - Beautiful setting, excellent food, and very distinct from the two above.
