Amsterdam RAI and nearby self catering accommodation

Hello fellow fodorites.
I may be attending a meeting at the Amsterdam RAI in April and normally like to book an apartment rather than hotel accommodation. It seems that the Congress centre is a little out of town.
I have been to Amsterdam once before but cannot accurately recall much about layout and hope that someone can advise on a neighbourhood that is relatively close to RAI (or easy to use public transport from) but also has some charm in its location?

Thank you

The RAI is on the outskirts of Amsterdam. There is a station within a 5 minute walk for metro, bus, and tram service. It might also have train service. Check Google maps. You can stay just about anywhere. I suggest the Spui area. State your budget and I'm sure you will receive plenty of specifics.

Thank you spaarne. I have looked at a couple in Pijp - would that be a good choice?
Looking at around 100 euro per night?

I've been in Amsterdam scores of time but never was in the Pijp area. I suggest that you use the search box above and look for hotels, B&Bs, and hostels in Amsterdam.
