What shall we do?

This June I will be traveling to Europe on my honeymoon. We will fly into Paris for a couple of days and plan to rent a car to go to Dijon (Burgundy). From there we will take the train to Geneva, Milan, Florance, and finally to Rome.

We are in our mid-thirties and the clubbing scene really isn't on our agenda. I would love any comments on things to do, restaurants not to miss, and any other helpful information. Thank You!!!!

I suggest the first thing you do is repost with a more specific heading!

I have to admit that I laughed when I thought about replying to someone going on their honeymoon, asking what shall we do LOL
You really should re-post with the heading asking something about where you will be , this is too vague.
It might also be more helpful if you say why you chose these places, if you don't know what to do..what is it you would like to do?
Or do you just need lots of recommendations?

Just put Paris or Rome into the search box and you can read to your hearts content on all sorts of things to do in those cities, while you wait for answers to your own thread.
Good luck~

Hi Meredith,
I wouldn't rent a car to go from Paris to Dijon as there is TGV which takes you there for 1h40 only (15 TGV a day + normal trains "Corail" which takes 3h)Paris is such a mess to get out, traffic jams and stress.
This posting below could give you a few ideas...

I forgot about TGV price, you can pay as low as 27€ if you can get Prem's ticket. Have a look here :

Now compare with the car rental rate + petrol and motorway tolls...

Hi M,

Only a couple of days in Paris, skipping Venice, on your honeymoon?

How long is this honeymoon?

Rather than staying in Geneva take the train out along the lake to the pretty smaller towns there like Morges, Lausanne, Vevey and Montreux... much nicer!! Stay in one of these instead. I'd pick Montreux for a honeymoon.

Meredith,

I can highly recommend Dijon. We were in Burgundy last year on a barge trip and stayed overnight in Dijon on the way to pick up the boat..

While there we had the good fortune to meet the charming Cocofrondijon, who took a number of us Fodorites on a highly educational and hugely caloric tour of local bakeries so we could learn the different types of french pasteries.

YUM!

One of the couples on the tour were on their honeymoon, too, staying in Coco's rental flat. They were able to sing the praises of Dijon, as they had much more time to tour the rest of the city than we did.

Have a wonderful trip and a long and happy married life!

:-)
