Camogli to Pisa or Lucca?

Staying in Camogli and then taking the train to Florence. I think we need to change trains at some point to go from the local to the express. Haven't investigated this part of the transportation so I am not sure. The question is, where do we change trains if we even have to at all? Also, is it going to be possible to have a peek at Pisa or Lucca on the way? What to do with luggage? Thanks.

You will normally have to change at Rapallo and Pisa. Some trains, though, involve a change at Sestriere or Viareggio, depending on your departure time.

You can find details and timetables on:
www.trenitalia.it

Hope this helps ...

I took the train from Camogli to Florence last year and I rode the local train (which was a beautiful ride along the coast) to Pisa where I switched trains. It would be possible to stop in Pisa for a few hours, however, I did not wander through the Pisa station so I do not know if they have lockers in which to store your luggage while you wander the city.

Trains from Pisa to Florence leave constantly throughout the day so you should have no problem getting a train out of Pisa at any time you wish.

As Steve states, I am sure that there are alternate routes from Camogli to Florence, if you wish.

Thank you. I think I will take the local to Pisa and then switch trains for florence. Does anyone know how long the ride is on the local to Pisa, and then the rest of the route to Florence?

Journey times vary considerably.

Camogli-Pisa = 2-2.5 hours.

Pisa-Florence = approx 65 mins (- but some trains take over 2 hours).

For details check:
