What's ITALIA RAIL? Any experiences?
Hi
I found a website called ITALIA RAIL, HERE'S THE LINK:http://www.italiarail.com/tickets/IR/IR.asp?AFF=TRE
It says: "The only North American website entirely dedicated to travel by train in Italy"
It seems they sell train tickets to travel in Italy.
Has anybody used this company?
Another question: is it better to buy train tickets in Italy when you are actually there?
I've read here that people have problems with the trenitalia website.
This other option "ITALIA RAIL" seems fine.
What are your experiences?
I'm afraid train tickets may be sold out when I'm there, since I'm travelling in a peak season, July.
Please, help!

I always buy my tickets when there in Italy. I think it's easier. You can check connections and train times before you go at www.trenitalia.com they have an english version upper right side of screen I think.

Hi IL,
Why buy your tickets from an agent who will charge you extra when you can do it online or at the station?

Have you tried it for yourself? You might be pleasantly surprised.

I mostly purchase my tickets at the station when in Italy but we have used the web for overnight accomodations in the past. We used Trenitalia since all other sights charge a service charge for use. Why pay extra when you can go to the source?
And yes, we had some minor difficulties with the Trenitalia web site but it seemed well worth the effort.
