What's in Seefeld

We are going to be in Seefeld for 6 days on our tour.>< I have read about it in the tour brochure and tried to find something about it it in the various tour books = Frommer's Fodor's etc. and can't really find a lot.

What can anyone tell me about it? :-B

In the latest Frommers Austria book it seems to be a winter sports area. It is NW of Innsbruck, several trains daily go 15 miles and train takes 40 minutes. Have you tried looking it up on the Innsbruck & Tryol areas on the web?Are there planned activities for you, or "free"days? Lisa

Lisa --

There are "free" days so we are not locked into schedule. We do like to do things on our own.

Try this: http://www.walkseefeld.com/

You're no doubt without a car so I don't know how you'd do it, but I'll suggest that you get to lovely nearby Mittenwald and even Garmisch and go up the Zugspitz.

You can easily visit Mittenwald, Garmisch, and Innsbruck by train from Seefeld. Wonderful scenery. Seefeld is the site of a lovely little church amidst birch trees. (well I thought they were birch). Do an image search and it's sure to appear. J.

Try www.seefeld.at
This site will give good information about Seefeld in english.
Seefeld sits on a plateau about one half hour by train or car from Innsbruck.
Easy connections by train mentioned by other posters to many places make it a good central place.
It is a village that exists just for tourism and sports.
Olympic cross country races have been held there when games were held in Innsbruck.
Many german guests in summer for hiking.
