Trastevere is charming in some parts, but it's a large neighborhood and not all of it is charming. Also, it's not an easy walk to most tourist sites, and has no metro at all.

Lately, I mostly stay in the Termini area. It's not the most charming part of the city, but what it lacks in atmosphere it makes up in convenience. Hotels are relatively cheap in that area, and there are some good restaurants. It's an easy walk to the Roman Forum/Colosseum and you could really want to almost everything from there. There are metro/tram/bus/train connections to any place you don't want to walk to.

My favorite area of Rome is the Campo Marzio area. I don't really have a hotel rec there but I've stayed in at least 3 apartments and a couple of hotels there. After several trips, it's where I keep returning to.

Our fav part of Rome is the Piazza Navona area, we’ve stayed at apartments just off the piazza on Via Agnese Agone and also a little farther away. We’ve also stayed at the Albrego Cesari, steps away from the Pantheon and Trevi fountain, with a lovely terrace restaurant.

But IMO anyplace in Rome is special, one of my fav cities...!

Just a bit south of the Pantheon, the former Roman Ghetto area is perhaps the most convenient spot in the city for walking everywhere. I used to stay there, until they converted my favorite budget hotel (La Lunetta) into an expensive boutique hotel. Nowadays, I usually go to Rome for one specific reason (an exhibit, for example) so it's no longer very important to be centrally located.

A few years ago, we stayed at the Albergo del Sole Al Pantheon and we found this hotel to be in a wonderful location, in the Piazza della Rotunda.

It appears the OP already reserved their hotel. But some great tips here.
