Frankfurt Airport to Stuttgart

Hi,

I have schedule trip this March to Stuttgart Germany.
Flying from Changi Singapore to Frankfurt Airport.

I can opt to take local flight to reach Stuttgart from Frankfurt but i prefer to take train from Frankfurt to Stuttgart (Holiday Inn) instead. Reason is i want to see more of Germany if i travel via train.

Questions.
1. Is this a good idea?
2. Is the train station near to Frankfurt airport?
3. What are the train station i need to take note going to Stuttgart? I read some main station and or transfer or so... Is there any direct train frankfurt to Stuttgart?

Appreciate all your reply. And Thanks in advance.

I would like to get your best recommendation and suggestion.

1. Sure. It's a good idea and not expensive.

2. The train station is located in the airport.

3. Look here for train timetables and order tickets: http://www.bahn.de/p_en/view/index.shtml (you want to go from "Frankfurt(M)Flughafen" to "Stuttgart Flughafen/Messe"). It will take 2 hours and 1 or 2 train changes.

You take the train from Frankfurt Airport (the train station is in the terminal, a short walk from the baggage claim area) to Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof. It runs at least once per hour, sometimes twice per hour and takes 1:15. About half of the trains are direct, other require a change of trains in Mannheim (same platform).

From Stuttgart main station, you can either take a taxi to the Holiday Inn (driving time: 20 min, fare € 30) or the S-Bahn (local train), line 6, direction Leonberg/Weil der Stadt, to the station „Weilimdorf“. The hotel is right opposite the S-Bahn-Station. Total travelling time would be 30 to 45 min. No extra fare if you book a ticket from Frankfurt Flughafen to Stuttgart Weilimdorf.

For connections and tickets, use this link:

http://www.bahn.de/p_en/view/index.shtml

Departure would be "Frankfurt(M)Flughafen"

Destination would be
either Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof (if you take a taxi)
or Stuttgart Weilimdorf (if you take the S-Bahn)

Your destination is NOT Stuttgart Flughafen, as mentioned above, because the Holiday Inn is not near the Airport.

In any case, a train from Frankfurt Airport would be much faster than a flight. However, the views from this train won't be overwhelming.

If you book a train ticket, do not book one of the saver fares but the regular far, so you are flexible and can take the next available train after you have grabbed your baggage.

If you are leaving from the Frankfurt Airport, you want the "Frankfurt(M)Flughafen" stop.
