You might try Hotel de l'Europe. It's on a pedestrian street at the edge of La Petite France. It's convenient to anything you'd want to see. I walked to everything including the train station. It's also near the tram to the airport. It's a part of the Best Western reservation service, but not at all like the BW's in the US. The room was comfortable and nice with modern bath. The staff helpful.

Last spring while waiting to join a canal barge trip, we opted to spend the night right smack in the cathedral square area at the very comfortable
aptly named "Hotel Cathedrale"...about $90, excellent, enormous buffet breakfast included. Walk out the door, and the cathedral is right there.
