What is your favorite restaurant in Paris?

With money as no object, what is your favorite restaurant in Paris, taking into account the WHOLE experience (food, atmosphere, service, etc.)?

Naming one is hard, because sometimes a simple romantic little bistro provides memories just as fabulous as one of the
palaces of haute cuisine
But I guess I'd say
Le Grand Vefour

We have always loved Michel Rostang and continue to do so. On our trip last week however, we did decide on a new favorite. Le Bamboche (around the corner from Bon Marche's grocery store). The food was superb, the service excellent and, well, just not as stuffy as other restaurants offering dishes of this quality.

I love the food, gracious service and intimate feel of Jamin (rue de Longchamp in the 16th).

We just came back from Paris and we at at couple of place, two of which i would recommend. One would be Maxims, just for the experience, and the other which is small and quiet, is at the hotel we stayed at, The new Four Seasons George V, which also happens to be the name of the restaurant. Enjoy.

Chantairelle (6th) and Le P'tit Troquet (7th). Both found in a wonderful book titled "Cheap Eats Paris". These two restaurants, especially Le P'tit Troquet are the epitome of French local charm.

I lament not having more creative answers to give here, but - - nevertheless...

The main dining room at Musee d'Orsay - - for lunch in an exquisite setting, good food and service and great value.

Jules Verne for the best Parisian memory ever - - at a high price, and if you have 6 months lead time to make the reservation.

or Chateau d'Esclimont if "restaurant in Paris" includes a 60 km circle drawn around Paris.

Best wishes,

Rex

If you mean a place where you dress in a skirt, dress etc. and the food is great, another "Cheap Eats" book recommendation, La Bastide Odeon, was simply great. It was classy, the service was impeccable and the food was great. Three of us had 3 courses each, a bottle of Brouilly and one of us had a VSOP cognac. With the service charge it came to 681.00 ff. Quite a bargain for a wonderful dining experience. The address is 7 Rue Corneeille 75006, the last number denoting the arrondisement, which is the 6th. Near the Plantes de Jardin. Lorri
