What is your favorite hotel in Barcelona

We will be taking a 2 week vacation on May 5 thru 19 and going from Athens to Barcelona. I am looking for your favorite hotel in Barcelona in this thread. I am looking for the perfect hotel that is quaint, comfortable, quiet and close to the city center at the same time. There are 2 adult couples in our group and our budget is $100 to $200 (US) per night per couple. We are a ways out from our trip so hopefully we can get a reservation at a great location. Thanks for your advice.

Hello again, wekiva...in your price rangew, I would suggest a 3-star place we have stayed at and recommneded to several others....The Gran Via, an old colonial hotel on the main boulevard, Gran Via...five minute walk to the heart of the city at Placa Catalunya and the Rambla...get a room in the back where it will be insulated from the street noise...breakfast is extra, but good. Rooms smallish, but more than adequate, good-sized en suite bathrooms.

Hi Wekiva,

My Mom and I stayed at the Apsis Atrium Palace, and we loved it. The rooms are small but the ones overlooking the Gran Via have nice balconies, and the sliding glass doors must be extra thick because they do a fabulous job of blocking the street noise. The staff is excellet, as is the location. We booked on line and got a half price deal on breakfast. Definitely take a look at their website!

I also stayed at the Granvia, great location and the price is very reasonable. It has a very nice old fashioned vibe to it.

We like the Condes de Barcelona, on Pg. de Gracia close to Gaudi Corner.

Can't recommend a hotel as we stayed at an American Hotel chain like Hilton, Marriott etc....BUT I Do Suggest You Be Very Very Careful In Barcelona...my SEAL Team Brother had his front positioned fanny pack opened by Gypsy kids in 5 seconds...
I had Gypsy kids shove a piece of newspaper in front of me as I exited the escalator from Las Robles as a ruse to search my empty pockets I was very badly injured (only in my 40's) in the fall...airvaced all the way to California..BE Ware the Gyspy kids...
