What is your favorite area of Puglia?

We like beautiful scenery, and charming towns where the locals still live and work. We like to have a high score for walkability with things in town to see. We won't be swimming or laying out on the beach. Would love your recommendations of places or areas to stay for 2-3 days and/or restaurants that you love.

Here are a few suggestions you might enjoy:

Port Fairy in Victoria is a lovely choice with its historic cottages and peaceful coastal walks around Griffiths Island. For food, try Coffin Sally for great pizza or The Merrijig Inn for seasonal local dishes.

Hahndorf in South Australia has wonderful old-world charm as Australia’s oldest German town. Stroll through the artisan shops and stop at The Haus for classic schnitzel or Udder Delights for excellent cheese platters.

Maleny up in Queensland’s Sunshine Coast hinterland offers gorgeous green hills and lovely little galleries. Don’t miss the rainforest walk at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, and The Tamarind makes a perfect lunch spot with amazing views.

All three are compact, scenic towns where you can easily spend 2-3 days wandering and soaking up the atmosphere.

Lecce, in the winter is big enough to support a local restaurant trade, but in the summer!
Taranto, similar as is Bari, Brinidis but both the last two have too much passing trade for me

Bari has lots of places to walk - around the historical cemtre, along the seafront etc and to see and do.
Brindisi too is nice - we spent a week in both Bari and Brindisi and day tripped from there.

One of my favourite places is Trani.
Most people would suggest Lecce for your criteria.
Some parts of Taranto are a bit gritty and not as picturesque as other towns and cities in Puglia

Lecce and Trani.

Thank you! I will check out Lecce, Bari, Brindisi, and Prani. For Prani, did you mean Primitivo? I googled Prani, and I cannot find it. Thanks so much!

Ok- it’s Trani (not Prani)! I typed it in wrong. It looks absolutely lovely!!💗

Maybe Martina Franca and Nardo.

I like Martina Franca in the summer, but less so in the winter
