What is there to do in Bruges for New Years eve??

My partner and I are visiting Bruges for New years eve and are wondering if there are any events that we should be aware of? We are concerned as we have heard that eveything is shut in Bruges on New years day are are worried about eating etc?? we have accomodation just off the Market sq are will be arriving on New years eve ... any suggestions? We are mid twenties not too worried about clubbing but a nice restaurant/bar would be nice all suggestions welcome please e mail me [email protected]

Most restaurants offer special menus on NY eve and NY day BUT are usually fully booked weeks ahead. Maybe your hotel can find you something?

Laurajane, you might consider Den Dyver for New Years Eve dinner. If you look at the following thread, I mentioned the restaurant part way through it. I also included a link to an older thread in which someone recounted their experience there at New Years:

Check out the link I gave you. It's in 4 languages. Lots of events are happening outside (fireworks, ice skating rink, ...) or in bars.
