What is the price in 2010 for a US citizen for a visa to enter Turkey?

Gordon - true. I have also heard/read that it may have something to do with Canadian support for Armenians. The reciprocity argument does not seem to apply in the US case, where a US visa for Turkish visitors is much higher than for US visitors to Turkey (I think).
Adu - to be safe, I will limit the Beliveau sucks line to the Blue mosque.

I think they don't want to discourage the larger number of US visitors by imposing a high visa fee. While it's called a visa, it's another form of tourist tax, as the visa is issued without examination of your passport - this takes place at passport control after you buy your visa. And I suppose if you are denied entry then, there is no refund!

I may approach the visa payment fellow with my passport open, wearing shorts, a Red Sox shirt, a Yankees cap, a fanny pack and asking in a loud voice if anyone knows the Notre Dame score. That could save me $40.

Laugh as much as you like (not the canadians) but we th Turkish nationals have to pay $10 everytime we leave the country!! I call it the "Troll Bridge Charge" or "Protection Fees".
By the way, the short term cost for cruise ship passengers is probably only $5.
All those who have paid thousands for the cruise keep on asking what is the cheapest way to get to the historic sights. "What happens if the taxi overcharges me and asks for $9 instead of $7.50?" is a popular question on trip advisor and even on Fodor's.
I am so tempted to advise that they walk to Chora church from the docks and back because the taxi will rip them off, for all similar questions for the next month like in Luke Reinhart's "The Dice Man".
