I think there may be some "poetic licence" in the Zurich hotel brochure quote and the one below, as they come from Gerard Hoffnung's Letters from Tyrolean Landlords - part of a talk he made in 1958.
(it's well worth googling as very amusing)

willir - we used to have a great Gerard Hoffnung tape featuring the Tyrolean letters and some other gems as well like the building site sketch, but sadly some b...rds stole it from our car.

funny thing to have stolen though - I hope they liked it!

In Vienna, a sign in German (which I didn't understand) and below it - Trespassers will be Prostituted. WOW! That's really harsh.

When I first started to visit France,I'd google for B&Bs.
Several I found read farts accepted or not accepted.
Later I found that farts is a term for pets.

I was walking down a narrow street in Tokyo where there were numerous signs in Japanese, so that the sign in great big English letters of "Spanish fly" really stood out.

Hmmm.

Near the Geyser that is part of the Golden Circle tour there is a snack bar with a poster of an ice cream cone. Above the picture of the cone is the word "Emesis" We passed on that since vomit is not our favorite flavor (Emesis turned out to be the brand name).

Glad you topped it so I can correct. The correct spelling of the ice cream is "Emmessis" same idea though.
