What is the equivalent of a gite in Spain?

Is there any such thing or any good listing place? I've tried self-catering, rural tourism, and cottages for search terms but haven't had a lot of success finding much. Perhaps Spain doesn't have this same tradition of small rural lodgings as France.

There is no direct equivalent as such, but Spain has a great system of Country Homes, Casas Rural as well as Agroturismo. There is a wide range of very popular houses throughout Spain, but mostly in the north in Green Spain, The Basque Country and Navarra.

it is called a "casa rural".
i like www.toprural.com but if you google "casa rural" with the province or city name, you should get other sites as well.

there are houses all over the country.
some as b+b, others you can rent the whole house.
