What is the best way to get from the train station in Venice to Hotel Flora?

Since I am so unfamiliar with Venice I need to know a reasonable way to get from the train station to Hotel Flora which is about 2 blocks from San Marco Square. I have heard the water taxis are extremely expensive.

Thanks

The vaporetto (public waterbuses) run from the train station to San Marco Square, and are inexpensive.

The Flora will give you directions as to which Vaparetto to take and where to get off etc. We took a water taxi because there were 5 of us and we could split the cost. The driver phoned the Flora to say we were coming and a bellman met us at the stop and helped us with luggage.

Hi Maryann
The Flora can easily give you these directions, but if you take the Vaporetto (water bus) from the train station, get off at the San Marco (Vallaresso) stop. Walk up Calle Vallaresso, passing Harry's Bar which will be on your right. Take a left on Calle San Moise, the large San Moise church will be on your left. Cross the little bridge (up and down steps) over the little canal. The street widens considerably, you will be surrounded by beautiful shops, and the street is now called Calle Larga 22 Marzo. Walk straight ahead. A few steps ahead on your left is a sign for the street entrance to the Europa Regina hotel.
A little way after that, on your left, you will see a small sign (it's elevated a bit) for the Flora. Turn left into that charming "alley."
The walk from the vaporetto stop takes
5-7 minutes.
I was very nervous about getting to my hotel the first time I went to Venice.
As a well-meaning (?) friend said to me
"You'll be fine, you're not the stupidest person ever to arrive in Venice."
Thank you everyone. As always Elaine you come to our rescue.

I'm sure the 5-7 minute walk will be a lovely one.
