What is the best way to get from the Naples airport to Sorrento?
Hello! We'll be flying into Naples, arriving around noon, and want to go straight to Sorrento.
I know there's a train from Naples to Sorrento, but how should we go from the airport to the train station? Does anyone know how far it is and how much a taxi might cost?
Also, I read that there's a boat from Naples to Sorrento. Has anyone done that? Any idea on how to get from the airport to the dock?
Thanks!

Good afternoon, Paige
The quickest would be taking a taxi
from the Naples airport (NAP) to the Corso Garibaldi, the Circumvesuviana
RR which goes to Sorrento. There are
four routes which leave this station
so make sure you are on the Naples-Sorrento one. NAP is 6 km outside
of Naples so any taxi fare will not be
very heavy. Upon arrival in Sorrento
you probably must take another taxi to
your hotel...Sorrento is served by the Linee Lauro departing fromthe port of Mergellina?? would suggest you surf the
last one out, the hydrofoil for detailed
information. Richard of La Grange Park, Il...

Hi Paige. I have lived in Naples for a month and i live less than a block from the Naples Airport. The easiest ( and cheapest way) to get to Sorrento is to take the #15 bus (there is almost always one waiting outside the airport). It goes from the airport to the train station and costs about 75 cents for a one way ticket. At the train station you are on your way!! You can opt for a cab, but agree on a price before you get in. It should cost between $10 and $20 (L20,000 to L40,000)
I live here so if you have any other questions feel free to ask!

The first time we went to Sorrento, we came from Rome on the train, arriving in Naples and then using the Circumvesuviana. We weren't able to get a seat and ended up sitting on our luggage between cars. We then took a taxi to our hotel.
The last time we arrived at Naples Airport. I had posted on several boards asking about a bus, etc. and was told there was a bus to Sorrento that could be boarded at the airport. However, we were unable to get any info at the airport information desk and were swarmed by various and sundry drivers. We finally went to the head of the taxi line and arranged with the driver to take us to Sorrento. It cost about $50.00, but we went directly to our hotel and it was worth it to us, arriving tired after a long flight and anxious to get to our destination.
We love Sorrento and if I can help with other info don't hesitate to e-mail me.
Hope this helps. J
