What is it like to live in Paris?

We're planning to be in Paris for Christmas this year, and my preliminary research leads me to believe that closures are minimal, except for Christmas Day, nothing at all like London. Even on Christmas Day, some things are open. (I don't remember which.) The metro and buses continue to operate even on Christmas Day, although with a reduced schedule. It's much more like Rome than like London.
