What is Feis Ceoil?

I've seen on an events calendar that Sligo celebrates "Feis Ceoil" around Easter. Can anyone tell me more about this?

I guess you can't see this from the post, but it is in Ireland. (I highlighted the "Ireland" box when I posted it.)

I was curious so I looked it up on the Google website. It's there, so check.

The spelling seems to be slightly different in Irish gaelic, but in Scots gaelic that would say "Festival of Music

Feis Ceoil is a festival generally associated with traditional Irish step dancing, Music, Singing and Recitation but can include other forms of music as well as choral performances in some cases. I'm not familiar with the Sligo festival some I'm not sure if it's purely tradtional music or more broad. Enjoy.<BR>
