What is Britain Like In Early to Mid-May

I will be traveling all over Britain during the dates of the 9th through the 22nd. I have visited sites where the average temps in London during my days there are around 63 degress, and in Edinburgh about 59 degress. But, is this one of the rainy-er months?

How about the looks of the land, are flowers blooming, or is it pleasant to visit some of the parks in London at this time?

Thanks,
Justin

I usually travel there the last two weeks in May. On average it rains about twice a week. In higher elevations temperature can be around 40F, generally is 55-65, but can also be in the high 70s. I take both warm and cold weather clothing and some years only wear one or the other.
Flowers are abundant in May. Parks in London are beautiful and not to be missed, as are cottage gardens in the countryside, and gardens associated with historic houses and castles. It's a great month to go there.

I agree with the previous poster. May is a great month to travel in Britain.

Yes there will probably be rain, but temperatures should be reasonable and many flowers etc. in full bloom. It should be an excellent time to visit parks and gardens all over the country -it will all look very green and inviting.

Take a raincoat and umbrella, and dress in layers since you can get quite cool days/nights and also quite warm ones. A combination of warm and cold weather clothing is important (for extremes think probably not shorts, and probably not a winter hat but a warm sweater is a good idea)

Have a great trip!

The days are long, though not as long as in June when it is not completely dark by 10 p.m.

The temperatures are nice but not hot. You can still hide a wallet, something that is difficult if it is so hot that you have to wear a t-shirt.

Excellent, I have set aside some time to simply wonder the parks, or a nieghborhood in town and I was hoping that it would be pleasent to do so.

I went last summer, but I only saw St. James park, and that was to just walk through it to get to the Changing of the Guards.

(Ask a silly question...)

lex - try http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=136
if necessary, go to timeanddate site, choose time zone, London, scroll down & there's a choice of entering a future date. For May 17-20 sunset seems to be about 8:30-8:45pm.

We having a saying:

"March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers"

May is beautiful and mild, gardens will be in full bloom. A perfect time to visit.
