Hello May 29th, 2001 09:41 AM

What is a troll?

What is a "troll" that people keep referring to?

It's a horrid fearsome creature that lives under a bridge and frightens the Billy Goats Gruff

Troll: as in the fishing technique where one casts out a baited hook and maneuvers it past a bunch of fish (or where one presumes are lurking a bunch of fish) hoping one will take the bait and bite.

In this case we're the fish. The troller is someone who posts a (usually) outlandish question or postulate in order to watch people make fools of themselves, etc.

In short, a non-sincere posting, the intent of whichis to jerk the chain of forum participants.

I wonder if your question about trolls is really a troll?
twenj
