What is a "troll" that people keep referring to?

It's a horrid fearsome creature that lives under a bridge and frightens the Billy Goats Gruff

Troll: as in the fishing technique where one casts out a baited hook and maneuvers it past a bunch of fish (or where one presumes are lurking a bunch of fish) hoping one will take the bait and bite. <BR> <BR>In this case we're the fish.
