what if question about trains

So I still haven't received my password to book a train so I was wondering how difficult it is to get 2 train tickets going from Rome to Buonconvento?

And what if there is a train strike? What alternatives are there?

Thanks!

You don't need to book train tickets in advance. Buy them when you get to Italy.

I've traveled to Italy more times than I can count and have never experienced a train strike. I wouldn't worry about it. If there is a train strike, there is a bus strike, and usually an airport strike as well.

Rent a car if you can.

There is a free chapter about trains in Italy that you can download from:
http://www.italyfromtheinside.com/ebook

In short, I wouldn't worry about booking in advance your ticket. Just show up at the station in time.

This is the site I check continuously just before departing for a trip:

Keep in mind that a scheduled strike may very well be cancelled at the last minute. But you should always have a Plan B when traveling in Italy if you're taking public transportation. Best of luck to you!

I would not worry, simply go to the train station and purchase point-to-point.
