hmmm I emailed tourism in Kinsale, she did not think Friday early afternoon would be difficult ( but then what was she going to say, avoid Kinsale?)
She did not mention construction............ If we just head back to Kenmare via Macroom, anything along that route? |
I had a very nice lunch at The Auld Triangle Inn just west of Macroom on the N72 Killarney Road.

Auld Triangle looks rather cool, very "atmospheric" for a first lunch in Ireland for my sister-in-law. I'm hoping for a really good seafood chowder and brown bread, or stew, something that tells her she's in Ireland!

The famous eating house on that road is The Mills Inn in Ballyvourney. High quality pub grub, reasonable prices, friendly staff, madly busy. |
Thanks Padraig ~ looks lovely! I emailed them re:reservations for lunch on a Friday in October. Wouldn't want to pull in behind a coach! ( maybe everyone will be in Kinsale)
|
I don't think they do reservations at The Mills. It is a roadhouse type of operation -- just drop in. Herself and I dropped in last Sunday, which is usually a busy day for lunches in Ireland, and we were accommodated with no problem.
There is a nice shop next door, selling better than average souvenir stuff. Herself and I, who do not go for harps and shamrocks, bought a couple of things there. |
The shop next door will definitely make Janice happy! Sounds good, thanks for the idea.
