What happened to twenj?

Can't seem to find the website anymore. What happened?

dan woodlief Feb 8th, 2002 09:17 AM

It has a new address - www.twenj.net.

Tom Feb 8th, 2002 09:17 AM

It's now at www.twenj.net

Without re-telling all the complicated twists in the story - - Mr. Gehrlein died last fall - - the domain name was co-opted by another company - - but the bottom line is that the site is back, essentially as good as it always was - - at www.twenj.NET

Best wishes,

Rex
-
For those unfamiliar with site, "twenj" is Travels with Ed & Julie. As Rex mentioned, Ed passed away. He often posted on this forum and is sadly missed by many.

I only found out about Ed's passing just the other day. I knew Ed over on the AOL travel posting forums. He helped me in 1996 with a goldmine of good travel information on Switzerland and hiking information.

I will miss Ed and his inputs to this forum!

Does anyone know the details of his death. Did Ed have an illness that few of us knew about?

aka sunvol

I am pretty sire that Ed had cancer (maybe two different cancers, one on the heels of the other) for at least a year or more before he died.

There was an obituary posting on this thread:

http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1326172

You have to scroll down quite a bit to read this (this is only a small excerpt) - -

Author: obit. Rex, thanks for the link to the message center.

My first solo trip to Switzerland in 1996, I sent Ed an e-mail requesting some information. I got back much good information.

I know Ed loved Murren, as do most of us, but I remember once telling Ed that as much as I loved Murren, I'd rather stay in Wengen due to an easier access to other areas of this great area. I think Ed was probably right. Staying in Murren is better.

I'll never know as much about this area asED knew.

We'll miss him!!!!
