BC,

Say no more, SAY NO MORE!!

But I don't want ANY SPAM.

Clifton Apr 21st, 2004 08:15 AM

Might I suggest a good spam blocker?

kismetchimera Apr 21st, 2004 08:20 AM

Spam? Is a forbidden word in my dictionary...

Art Apr 21st, 2004 09:16 AM

You need a lot of Spam in case you lose electricity.

DixieChick Apr 21st, 2004 09:21 AM

SPAM backwards is MAPS.

So be careful, Fodorites, or you'll lose direction.

But now I know how to pronounce Siobhan. Say it with me: Siobhan, Siobhan, Siobhan, Siobhan, Siobhan.
Aaaahhhhh...

Speaking of porcine products, has anyone ever been to Ile de Porquerolles?

A brief article I just found in Conde Nast Traveler online called it "one of the Continent's secret offshore gems" and goes on to say "Privately owned for centuries?first by monks and then by a family that made a fortune mining in Mexico?this tiny island is today a car-free national park. Hiking or biking through forests fragrant with wild rosemary and thyme, with the topaz waters of the Mediterranean often in view, you'll quickly fall under the spell of the southern French coast as it existed for centuries, before it became heavily urbanized after World War II."

Owned by the Taylor family, I believe.

mr_go Apr 21st, 2004 11:04 AM

As with the previous Testing thread, I would now like to do my part in helping to lift the thread-count to 100 posts...and beyond.

Glad I could help. Carry on now. That is all.

capo Apr 21st, 2004 11:10 AM

elle, that must be the family that used to own it. The Conde Nast article said that it's a national park now.

One could do a porcine-product themed tour of Europe: Ile de Porquerolles, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Nottingham...

No, capo, that was me being obsure (and probably dating myself). Taylor Pork Roll used to be a popular breakfast meat in Philadelphia/New Jersey (not sure if it was exclusive to that region or not) in the 1970s or so. . .

Lets storm an AOL chat room.

Elle!

Hey, I got it first go round....In fact, I had to take Taylor's from Philadelphia whenever I went on camping trips (more travel, folks) to western PA.

(And the posts go on...)

FainaAgain Apr 21st, 2004 11:36 AM

what is this thread about?

elle Apr 21st, 2004 11:57 AM

Travel!

Clifton Apr 21st, 2004 11:58 AM

Warning: This thread may contain nuts.

tomboy Apr 21st, 2004 01:43 PM

Remember, people, we must include some European names of cities to foil the electronic Fodor message thread deleter software. So long as the message contains "travel" words, the automoton thinks it's about travel, and won't delete the other content.

So, Hamburg, Cologne, Lauda-Konigshofen
Paris, Lille, Normandy

Taylor pork roll is still popular in NJ. Try pork roll, scrambled or fried egg and cheese on a warm hard roll... Excellent!

PamSF Apr 22nd, 2004 12:07 AM

OMG~Taylor's Ham!!!I grew up on the stuff. My mother would slice it, fry it and then pour milk over it. Then again. there were fried taylor ham sandwiches on white bread with butter!

PamSF Apr 22nd, 2004 12:09 AM

May I say, I also ate alot of SPAM in Jersey in the 50's. But, Taylor's Ham was a far better deal.
