What happened to a thread entitled "Testing: No Message?

It seems to have disappeared into a black hole.

francophile03 Apr 16th, 2004 07:20 PM

If it disappeared then it's probably because no one passed the test. There were too many messages instead of none. :)

Singletail Apr 16th, 2004 09:35 PM

It disappeared because it followed the now infamous Fodorite travel "rule of thumb" in staying around one place for three days max and then moving on.

tomboy Apr 17th, 2004 06:22 AM

Huh? I seem not to understand. Is there an unwritten rule of some nature, which I'm unable to fatom from these two posts?

tomboy Apr 17th, 2004 12:51 PM

topping

sfowler Apr 17th, 2004 01:50 PM

It was probably deleted by Fodors for lacking any redeeeming social value ;)

Clifton Apr 17th, 2004 02:20 PM

People were having too much fun while not being mean to anyone else.

Obviously, it had to go. :D

carrolldf Apr 17th, 2004 02:22 PM

Gee, and I thought it had the most social value of any thread here -- lighthearted and causing people to laugh. It was one of the best threads recently. Guess we never made the 100 posts target we were shooting for on it.

bookchick Apr 17th, 2004 03:34 PM

No, but I think we came in fairly close, maybe about 94 posts to the thread...

tomboy Apr 17th, 2004 04:50 PM

Do you mean that, if I poated a message about something not remotely rleated to travel (such as anorexia) it would be deleted?

I guess that's sort of urbane renewal.

cmt Apr 17th, 2004 04:56 PM

What was it about, or what was it turning into? I never opened it--thought it was about boring technical glitches, and I wasn't experiencing any.

Marilyn Apr 17th, 2004 05:09 PM

cmt, it turned into a rather funny, harmless self-satire. How could we have 25 posts on a thread with a title that clearly says it's a test with no message? Could we make it to 100? What did the OP REALLY mean by that header? Were there words spelled incorrectly? Was there punctuation missing? How do you pronounce the first name of the OP? Etc. Just a bit o'fluff.

OaktownTraveler Apr 18th, 2004 12:29 PM

Clifton...

You cheated!

cigalechanta Apr 18th, 2004 12:36 PM

I'm testing for staying power anew: testing no message.

Clifton Apr 18th, 2004 07:32 PM

It's not cheating...

it's creative appropriation!

kismetchimera Apr 18th, 2004 07:51 PM

Pity..it was a clean and fun thread...

Too bad that was censored and deleted..

PamSF Apr 19th, 2004 12:05 AM

ttt for testing.

SiobhanP Apr 19th, 2004 12:40 AM

Hi Folks! I was busy over the weekend...I am the start of the thread and it genuinely was a test for the IT fella Binesh at Fodors. I had trouble registering for ages and they were letting me in through another route and having me do some tests while on the phone with them. Not sure why they deleted it but I never expected it to create such intrigue. It was getting very funny. Try again for 100!

tomboy Apr 19th, 2004 07:33 AM

The IT fellow is Binesh?

That's an acrostic for Ben Hines (pardon the spelling, Ben, but any port in a storm for a good pun)

or is that an oxymoron?

SiobhanP Apr 19th, 2004 07:55 AM

Unless Ben works for fodors I doubt it's him!
