What happen to the "Pins"
How many fodorites still wear their "PINS'? Just where do you wear it? Has anyone seen them in their travels?
Wore mine at the last Fodorite gathering.
Had it on in Paris and London in January. Did see another.
Thought you meant Juan les Pins, former playground of Sara and Gerald Murphy and their guests, Picasso, the Fitzgeralds, et al.
Wore mine at Octoberfest last Sept. Met up with other fodorites fot a GTG. Lost it some time during the evening.
What pins? Is this actually some secret society I've stumbled across?!?!?!
Mine kept losing its back and falling off. Put it away as Heaven forbid I should lose the precious pin. It was in my purse and kept sticking me. Forgot about it until now. Will have to see if it is still around.

A wonderful Fodorite named Sheila sent me an extra pin she had as I had written how much I wanted one. She sent it from Scotland and I wore it proudly all around Italy. I looked and looked for anyone else wearing one but sadly did not see anyone with one.
The moment I came off the plane in NY...there was someone wearing one! LOL
OK, WHAT pins? How do you get one?

There was a thread last year suggesting that Fodorites should wear something to identify themselves to one another when traveling. I think it started out as a ribbon, but the idea of a pin came up somehow (don't remember all the details). The Fodors editors saw the thread and took up the idea of creating a Fodor's pin. They generously produced and mailed out the pins FREE to everyone who signed up over a period of several weeks. When the pins were originally sent out, some were lost due to poor packaging, so Fodor's actually re-sent the pins to some people in padded envelopes. It was a nice gesture on the part of Fodors. I still have my pin, but haven't had a chance to wear it on a trip yet. Maybe soon...

Too funny! I wore my (resent) pin proudly for five weeks last fall in Paris, Italy and Munich. Never saw another one and no one recognized mine. I was devastated! The little thing is right here on the blotter beside my laptop.
You know, I completely forgot about my pin when I went to the UK a couple of weeks ago!

I'm curious, did those of you who spotted someone in one go up and ask who they are on Fodors? None of you have mentioned doing that but I thought that was the point of the pins--to identify each other and strike up a conversation. Has that happened?
I can't believe I forgot about it. Alot has happened in a year.
I see that Mary hadalittle lamb first used this name just a month ago.

And apparently didn't know about the pins from last year.
The only way anyone will notice the pin is if that is all you're wearing. That will definitely start some conversations going and you'd be amazed at how many other fodorites you meet who regrettably forgot their pins.
s

We wear our pins but haven't spotted any during travels. Last year while visiting a small Chilean mountain town, we met a large group of students attending a band camp. They were excited about the pins. None of them had access to a computer/email and none had heard of Fodors.
Is there any plan to send out the pins again this year?
I think it sounds like a fun idea.
I am always curious if there are fodorites in my home town of St. Louis, Mo?
