Well, almost all of the above depend on your budget and personal style of travel. Are you going for rock bottom with shared baths? Moderate? An occssional splurge? How many people are going? have you traveled to europe before? What are the goals of you trip (countryside? hiking? fishing? castles/ history?). If you provide more info people can give better answers.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't very clear. I'm not looking for suggestions for how much money, but the type of expenses I can expect to have.

theatre or concert tickets, tips, passport, clothes purchased for the trip, guide books, parking (particularly for the car you leave at your home airport).

You will need to start planning for a return trip to Scotland. Have a wonderful trip. It is a beautiful, fun, amazing place.

Trip Insurance (if you want it).

You need two additional categories: miscellaneous and unknown.

Thanks everyone. :)
I'm a little stressed trying to plan everything for the vacation next year. My sister is no help at all. Oh well.

Start by making lists of the things you need to do for this trip as you think of them. Things like book airfare, hotels, rental car as well as stop mail, notify credit card company of overseas trip, unplug toaster, etc.

If you do this, you can create a timeline so that everything is done before you leave.

Don't get stressed -- get organized. Planning a trip is half the fun!
