What do you think of this itinerary
I am going to France&Italy for an 15 day trip with a friend and tentatively this is what my itinerary looks like:
(Excluding travel time from/to the US) March: 15th Morning - Arrive at Paris 15,16,17 - Paris 18 - Grenoble 19 and 20 - Rhone Alpes region (Need suggestions for specific places here) 21,22 - Provence (Here as well) (Overnight train to Italy) 23,24,25 - Rome 26,27 - Cinque Terre 28,29 - Venice 30 - Fly back home My itinerary is totally flexible, if anybody feels certain places ought to be removed off the list, I'm open to those suggestions as well. Thanks |
Were you going to Cinque Terre to swim? March is a little early in the season.

Not really. Just to get a feel of rural Italy I guess.

Your itinerary is pretty tight. Many people wouldn't feel comfortable with all the moving around (myself included), but if you've traveled this way before and it's your preferred method, then have it your way. :) Personally I'd cut your list in half.
If all you want is a taste of rural Italy, stopping for a couple of nights in Tuscany or Umbria might more sense, instead of zigzagging over to Cinque Terre. Or perhaps see Cinque Terre on your way from Provence to Rome, since you're passing right by. |
Only 3 days in Rome? I looked at your other post and saw that you and your friend are early 20s. Rome, IMO, in addition to all it has to offer in the way of art, architecture, history, etc., is a really fun place for young people. Or maybe it just makes me feel young when I'm there. Relative to the Forum, the Coloseum, the Sistine Chapel. I think if you guys (girls?) are energetic this is a good itinerary. |
If you & your friend have traveled to Europe before on a similarly paced itinerary and enjoyed yourself, then it looks fine.
If you are inexperienced travelers who have not been to Europe before, then I think it looks very rushed and hectic. Personally I would hate knowing I have to train to another city every 2 or 3 days. 7 hotels in 15 days would make me just nuts. |
