I do look at transportation maps and street maps for some destinations before I go on the trip, or at least before I leave the hotel room, because I want to organize my day, see other things in the same neighborhood,make a note about the nearby great little cafe I'd read about, etc.
But I wouldn't shepherd 3 other people around at that pace and with that itinerary on the first day
(nor even just myself)

The Musée national Eugène Delacroix is lovely, especially their garden. The museum doesn't have a lot of his work rather it houses many of his personal possessions, include artworks, and offers a look into his life as an artist. A quick tour will probably take you about an hour. I'd recommend buying your museum pass there instead of the airport. Also, be sure to check out the Delacroix frescoes in St. Sulpice.

Wow, like I said this was ramblings of the first day! Thanks for all the feedbacK!
It is funny when you post something, and since I am a nonentity to everyone here, my personality takes a life of its own!!
We will definitly stop and smell the roses! We will take cafe breaks, and we will probably end off the beaten track!
Since it is more than moi, I probably got more anal with a rough draft that looks out of control!
So I had fun reading all your posts, thank you, I did invite the critisms since I did post this.
And I will post with trip report on my return!!
We are an energetic bunch, and we are also free spirited so here is to the road less traveled!!

We arrive at Hotel Du Danube and the snow was spectacular. We ate at a restaurant on rue jacob. The restaurant specializes in cous cous. We all got different dishes and shared. Of course the kirs started before the food!!
We then are off to the winterwonderland, we visited musee Delacroix, which I can imagine in the summer the courtyard is lovely, but alas, I have a different perspective because of the snow! We walked to Saint Chapelle, which I love! We perused the island {glad I had my shearling boots and coat}
We then went to conciergie [spelling?] Which gives you some perspective of the revolution.
Musee d'orsay was open late so we visited the old favorites before dinner.
We had reservations at Boissinier on rue seine for the evening. What a treat I had the sea bass. My friend had the pigeon, and everthing was very enjoyable. Dessert was over the top chocolate and creme brulee!
So as you can imagine we are very tired and head back to the hotel. Day 2 is coming!
OK You saw, what I planned to do, and this report is what we really did on our first day!!
