I wouldn't try to talk anyone out of their seasickness, but to try to reassure you Paige, the ride to Capri ( I took a ferry from Positano to Capri) was quite smooth --- this was during an April '99 visit. In fact my experiences with other ferry rides on the Mediteranean have been just fine --- also rode a ferry when going to Ischia.

Hi- I've taken Bonine on several trans atlantic crossings and on one cruise and it works wonderfully-- the first time I took it I waited until I felt sick (really stupid of me) and afterwards I just took it and never felt sick. There is a little drowsiness but not bad and my mouth was dryer than usual but that could also be ship-air.

Thanks, everyone! I think I'll get some of everything mentioned and give it all a try.

Sorry, I don't know if Bonine is available in Canada, and I'd read the dosage on the box to see if it's ok for your child.

Those acupuncture wristbands don't sound all that bad. Do they really work?

Just for the record,

Plasil = 10mg Metoclopramide Chlorydrate
Bonine = 25mg Meclizine HCL
Transderm-Scop = 5mg Scopolamine

Paulo

To Liz who wondered if Bonine is available in Canada: don't know where in Canada you're located, but it's available in NH drugstores. Druggist in NH drugstore told me Meclizine (i.e., Bonine) does the best job for motion sickness, for whatever that's worth.

Can someone tell me how to properly wear the wristbands? I have some but I can't quite figure out how to make them work. How do you get the bump in the right place every time? Does it have to be on a specific spot? Also, are they good for car sickness as well? Thanks!

Hi Paige - I asked my friend how she wears her bracelets - For your left arm - hold your hand out, palm up. Measure 3 "finger widths" from where your hand and wrist meet - bracelet (bead side up) should rest against your index finger and fit snugly. Repeat for right wrist.
Kathy says you'll come to know when it's on the right spot - I suppose the hard way!
