What do you do...

Just wondering what you Fodorites do before a flight/vacation that might be considered superstitious or out of the ordinary.

Call me crazy, but once I've booked my plane ticket I lie in bed every night before I fall asleep and imagine what it is going to feel like when the plane takes off. Anyone else have a pre-travel quirk?

Starting with the time I bought the airfare for my very first trip to Europe, I developed a "happy dance" that is reenacted every time flights are booked. Definitely "out of the ordinary" but not yet a full blown quirk.

I save my happy dance until after I have landed at my destination, I don't want to tempt "fate". Then I think "I made it", thank God, then do a That Girl (or is it Mary Tyler Moore) whirl, then I'm off for adventure.

Natalia, I hadn't thought the whole dancing thing through that well. But, am sticking with the pre-trip routine because it seems to be working ... so, guess it's now a superstition. ;-) I like your style, though.

I have a "Traveler's Prayer" printed on a credit-card-size card, never go on a trip without it.

For several years the night before leaving I see the same dream! Weird huh :)

And my co-workers must hate me :) They have to listen to my raving before and after each vacation!

What is your traveler's prayer? Would you share it here?

Heather, I do two different happy dances:)
One for the buying the tickets and making the trip a reality, that is more of a little jig.
The one I do that is full-blown happy is when we walk into the hotel in that place! that is a bouncing up and down, swinging around, arms in the air, but no screaming , Happy dance~
I also have a prayer that I say when the plane takes off, it is something like
God if you get me there safe, I promise I will be good:)
Maybe less of a prayer and more of a Make a Deal ~Lol~

My best friend passed on this superstition to me. She learned it from her Italian mother and grandmother. When you travel it's lucky to wear red. So, I always try to have on a read sweater or red socks and I ALWAYS bring my red wallet with me. It's definitely superstitous but the trips always seem to go well!
