What do I do next year???
Hey folks,
Last year, we went to Hawaii; this year Greece and Paris. This bar is set high. Where do I go next year? |
Blazes?
But seriously, folks (rim shot)it's a large world. I have found Denmark to be a lovely place to visit (4 times). |
Ira, please expound a bit on Denmark!
|
Hi Tuck,
I think I can convey the experiences by saying that I got into an argument with a Danish friend that consisted of "Americans are the friendliest people" "No, they're not. Danes are" "American women are beautiful" "Danish women are more beautiful" "America is a wonderful place." "Denmark is even better." Our wives intervened before we came to blows. Check the fodors miniguide for basic information. Copenhagen has Smørrebrod (sandwiches), Smorgasbord, Wienerbrod (Danish pastry), Danish cheese, beer, Tivoli Gardens, the Strojet, and the most pleasant and friendly people in the world. Not to mention some other good points as well. |
Maldives, New Zealand, Chile, Brazil, Peru,Uruguay,Argentina, South Africa, Seychelles, Madagascar....
|
Australia ( Great Barrier Reef-Lizard Island!) and Fiji... Dream on...
|
Mark,
if you really want something interesting, unusual and far less popular than Greece, Hawaii and Paris why not check out my trip report on Iran that I just posted on the Africa Middle East board...proving there are always more places to go! |
I heartily second New Zealand. The scenery is spectacular and the people are incredibly nice.
We made a zig-zag from the top of North Island to the bottom of South Island. Sub-tropics to Alpine>:D< :-B |
If you want something a little less ordinary how about Iceland. Norway, Sweden and Denmark are also great.
|
Private island somewhere?
|
China!
|
You've hardly scratched the surface. And the bar can go higher, much. Are you sure you need our ideas? What about Asia or Africa - that ought to keep you busy for the bext 10 years. Or New Zealand (S and N Island). A month in Italy, perhaps Portugal. Or Russia. The bar has plenty of room to rise.
|
Check your newspaper! Things change daily. We cancelled China in april 10 days before the trip because of SARS.
Will try it again next year..maybe. HOWEVER.. Australia and New Zealand never cease to please. Went tWice in 2 years (Australia) and loved every minute! The best part is they love Americans! Win win if you are a US citizen feeling internationally unloved! |
Go to Antartica......great scenery. A bit chilly but nothing a warm jacket can't fix. Very sunny place but sometimes a bit windy. There is beautiful wildlife abound.
Why go spend all your time with a bunch of tourists. You definatly don't want to go to some trap that you and a 100 million people have already visited that year. I've hear they got great deals going there. Lodging can be a bit difficult to locate. I suggest camping. Theres not many fancy restaurants but I'm sure you'll find something to meet your taste. |
I agree with Jack...Antartica can be a great get-away.
We visited last November (off season). Most places down there don't take traveller checks, so bring your ATM card and some dollars as a back up. We got upgraded to business class on the way home! Woo-hoo! |
