San Alfonso, Chile. A small village in the mountains. We heard music and thought is was a local festival. Turned out to be marching band camp for young Chilean children. We were the first North Americans the children had met (really).<BR>Incredible experience. We continue contact with the band teacher and recently visited with him and family in Santiago.

It would take me hours to list the highlights of all the countries I have been to. I will just list some of the entities that have made a huge impact on me: Angkor Wat, Great Wall of China, David in Accademia, Taj Mahal, Kathmandu, Hogmanay in Edinburgh, Farmacia Santa Maria Novella in Florence, Riva Schiavoni in Venice at night with full moon, Sagrada Familia, Hermitage Museum, taking a train across Switzerland, Parthenon, Sigiriya frescoes of Sri Lanka, all of Bangkok, helicopter ride over Rio.

3. New Zealand - The Remarkables Alps in Queenstown

4. England - Oxford

5. France - Versailles

6. England - London

7. France - Paris

8. Other cities in Japan, Europe, Canada.

GERMANY: (this has got to be done by city, as I've been there so many times!)
Berlin: Checkpoint Charlie (only 3 years after the wall came down)
Wurzburg: Mass in the Cathedral during Kilianifest (although the three shrunken heads weren't good for my hangover)
Frankfurt: The shopping! (hey, I was 16!)
Goettingen: The beer, the University library, my life there!
Munich: The Olympiapark

JAPAN: (quite a few highlights)
Hiroshima, a music festival on Sado Island, the World Cup, seeing the girls in kimono wearing mickey mouse ears at Tokyo Disneyland, sashimi

U.K.: Hampton Court maze

FORMER YUGOSLAVIA (I think it was in the current Croatia): Spectacular caves - my first real holiday, aged 5 - all I remember are the caves.

SPAIN: Madrid: The village of Segovia just outside the city, and the Thyssen museum.

ITALY (Venice): The convent I stayed in, and a little church (St. Francis, perhaps?) that I stumbled into when I got lost one day. In some ways, that church saved my life.

HOLLAND: The Anne Frank House

MALTA: Cassandra's Cave &amp; the old man who showed us around

PORTUGAL: My first love

CZECH REP.: The Charles Bridge in the snow

US: Water-skiing on Lake San Antonia, lunch in Chinatown in San Fransisco, trying to explain to our hosts that &quot;no, Ireland isn't in the middle of a civil war&quot;.

I find the opportunity to travel and experience new and different cultures to be the highlight of every trip. I won't list everywhere I have been but I have not been to a place I did not find enlightening and worthwhile. I have found good in every place I have been. Each is an adventure and I am thankful that my wife and I have been blessed with the health and financial ability to travel like we do. We both hope to continue doing so for a long time and continue to make new friends and explore new parts of this earth. Life without travel would be much less rich.
