What colors to wear?

Is there any particular colors that I should avoid wearing in a particular country in Europe? For instance, we were told not to wear green in Northern Ireland and not to wear orange in the Republic of Ireland.
IT was something we had not thought of.
SO does anyone have any advice.

Someone on one of my other posts implied that this was not a legitimate question. Beleive me , it is.
I am not kidding about being told what colors not to wear in Ireland.
This was back in the 80's and it was one of my first trips.
So my original question here still stands.

You'll be fine wearing orange in Southern Ireland unless you top it off with a bowler hat. I'd also leave the big drum and flute at home.

Do people really have/wear orange or green clothes so much to be noticable?

Wear plain dark colors because they don't show the dirt from traveling as quickly.

Oh dear - someone is pulling your leg! Don't worry about wearing orange in the south, and you'll be fine wearing green up north as well. However, should you like wearing sportswear, certain football (soccer) jerseys should be avoided (I'm not kidding) - but I'm sure you're not going to be wearing those. Just relax - you'll have a great time. Don't forget to bring raingear though.

Mind you, I was living in Derry in the early 70's and you really did not want to drive around in a rental car with English plates...
