what can a kid do in Baden-Baden?
Most guide books described Baden-Baden as a place famous for spa and casino. We have no interest at all to see the casino, and we presume the kids are not allowed to a spa. If that is the case, is it still worth visiting?

regards,

mast

Just my 2 cents but I'd skip Baden-Baden whether I had kids with or not. Germany has so much more to offer than the Black Forest. I mean, it's a FOREST. It was our only disapppointment in our German trips. I could think of 20 other places I'd rather spend the time...

Second time today I've agreed with Turnip - - at least on a general level. I'd take a kid to Baden-Baden about as quick as I'd take a kid (or anybody) to Atlantic City (Oh, Lord - - that will surely offend somebody).

But I'm not sure I'd buzz through the Black Forest altogether. Some of my best trips to Europe have included both France and Bavaria/Austria. You got to get there somehow, and I think the Black Forest is as worthy of your time as many parts of Switzerland. (Now I'll have Ed of twenj.com up in arms!)

We're going through this coming June, and we're going to try out the little town of Oberkirch - - www.oberkirch.de - - though there are a lot of little towns like this. We just liked the look of some of the places available to stay there.

No real specific tourist attractions there, just kinda like a lot of little towns in or around our own Smoky Mountains, to make a comparison.
Probably agree with all the above remarks about Baden-Baden, it's a town
known for its spas and especially the casino. There is one place you might want to go to with kids. It is the
"Europa-Park" (a mini EPCOT) in Rust,
about 50 miles south of BB, take the
Autobahn (A5). Take a look at their
web-site "www.europapark.de.
Gute Reise
Thanks guys. we will go to Trier instead. and we will do our own 'spa' in our hotel.

mast

Trier - good choice. And take your kids to Burg Eltz from (or en route to) there.

As good as Neuschwanstein (better in some ways) and sure to wear them out, climbing up there and back to the car again. I swear this is one of the only attractions in the world that has such an uphill climb both directions!
