What blooms in late April in Italia?
Just wondering if the seasons for fruit and flora are much different than the more temperate areas of the US. I read someone's report that the lemon trees were heavy with fruit in February. Is that high season for citrus like in Florida? Will we find vine ripened tomateos, roses, fushia?

I thinks it depends on the parts of Italy you are visiting. I have seen fields of wild flowers in Sicily in March, poppies in Tuscany in early May, fully blooming wisteria in Assisi in April.

Rgardless of the time of year, Love always seem to bloom in Italy. :)

Oh good grief, I suppose it would have been helpful if I had mentioned that we'll be there in late April splitting our time between the Amalfi Coast and Rome, with a few side trips. It will be lovely to see wisteria in Assisi.

Oh more grief! I DID mention it it the title. You know that I have the Fodor's bug when I check the forum before coffee. Apologies!

This is for Tuscany but check out this chart, it will give you an idea:

At Lake Como the last week in April this year, the rhododendrons were in full bloom and the azaleas were blooming, but would be in full bloom about a week later. Lots of wisteria and bulb flowers as well. Villa Carlotta was stunning.
