What are your other favorite travel forums?
Nothing could ever beat fodors.com, of course, but I'm curious whether there are others out there, particularly for Europe. One can never have too many sources. :-)

The Travel boards on AOL are good. It's the only reason I keep my AOL account. And it's structure is much better than Fodors. There is a separate board for each country - for example, you don't have to sift through France and Italy threads to find the UK threads.

Kayb, I don't get your point. You are aware aren't you that when you come to the Fodor's Europe page, you can go to the search function, leave the fill in part blank, but click United Kingdom and then you only have the UK threads in the left hand column?
I think this is all a chicken or the egg thing for me. I'm not sure if I use Fodors the most because it's the easiest for me to use, or if it's the easiest to use because I use it the most. |
I use it because you are all here making it the livliest forum I know.

Not long ago I discovered a gem of a site that for some reason had escaped me previously.
http://travel.roughguides.com/ If you go to http://travel.roughguides.com/planning/journalhome.html you will find a treasury of wonderful info. All for free. I love reading people's travel journals and many of them are of definite publishable quality. I have assembled some of the recommendations into my own version of a "rough guide". |

AOL is just easier because it has a separate board for each country. Don't get me wrong. I like Fodors, just like the structure of AOL better. :) |
FlyerTalk.com, while aimed at those with a frequent flyer points obsession, is a great source for good deals, airline policies, and obscure bits of information on getting there and back.

It seems like every week or so I find a new web site with talk forums. I personally favor this one and slow travel for the ease of use and the fact that people post daily.

I like the travel talk section of FlyerTalk.com.
Frommers message board can also be pretty active. I'm surprised nobody's mentioned that guy with the glasses and geeky haircut who likes to stick his head out of train windows. |
I like Virtual Tourist, Grasshopper recently told me about it and it's a new addiction! (I think I had heard of it before but never really peeped in). you can post photos and stories and it's so user friendly.
worldisround.com is good for photos... tripadvisor seems to be good for forums. |
IgoUgo.com is a good one for travel journals and pics. I like VirtualTourist and Tripadvisor as well.

eurodata.com is a free bimonthly magazine with several articles on Europe in every issue. I wouldn't classify Frommers as an active board especially compared to Fodors. I have posted on Frommers and days would go by with no response if any at all. I did, however, get a great deal to Ireland a couple of years ago from Frommers newsletter.
