What are your Favourite Things about this board?

In the spirit of peace, love, joy, and all that jazz, here are some of my own favourites:

1. Passion for travel that comes out so clearly, particularly on those posts about memories and about people
2. Occasionally lyrical writing
3. Ease of access to information; to me, no other travel board I've seen comes close to the format of Fodor's--not to mention the frequent replies
4. Tangets!
5. Sharing memories and hints and encouragement

The thing that wows me about this board is that there is always someone out there who can answer almost every question we can dream up!
I have learned so much about the locations I've visited by reading and posting here before traveling.

I guess my very favorite thing is the great suggestions that people give for every category--eating, sleeping, sightseeing, shopping, and transportation. Thanks Fodorites!

Uh-oh, call out the spelling police! That's
tangents, of course. (I'll plead too much May.)

What I like best about this board is the general level of politeness in responses.

There are few posters who respond with venom dripping off of every word.

Those who do know who they are.

I have been to other BBs (not travel related) where the respondents indicate hostility based on self issues.

That rarely happens here now.

Basically, the huge amount of information that it provides. Even when no-one is able to answer a question from personal experience, there's usually someone who can suggest useful links to search. I've spent many a happy hour just following a link on a whim, which has then led me on to somewhere else, and somewhere else, and ...... Well you know how it is!

That it attracts so many knowledgable people and moves so fast. Hundreds of posts in a single day.

That the site has been improved making it easy to track your own posts and those you've posted on and are following; that you can e-mail posts to friends and jump to the last post. All these new bells and whistles are great.

Thanks, Amy, and thanks for mentioning that tangents is a good thing. I'm guilty of that often, but I love reading others' as well. J.

The really special friends and relationships I've developed with people I would have never met otherwise; people in distant parts of this country as well as other countries.
