What are the options for getting from Paris to Florence?
 

Good Morning,

Could anyone give me advice on the best ways for traveling from Paris to Florence in one day? I need to finalize some travel plans this week and this is one of the final missing links. I would be traveling at the end of October.

Check www.whichbudget.com - - (remember to check Pisa, Florence and both Rome airports), but I think that your best bet will be Paris (Orly) to Rome (Ciampino) and then take the train to Florence.

Easy Jet has a flight from Pisa to Paris Orly airport. To get to Pisa from Florence there is a bus service from the main train station to the airport for 7 Euro and travel time is 70 minutes. www.terravision.it

You have tons of options. You can simply drive if you want - it's not that far.

Or you can just take the night train from Paris Gare de Lyon (or Bercy, maybe) to Florence

You can get the night train from Paris to Florence. But be careful if you are travelling late October: in catholic countries, such as France and Italy, Nov 1 is a holiday (ALl Saints' Day), and this year falls on a Tuesday. Which means that the Oct 28 - Nov 1 big week-end is likely to be quite heavily booked in trains and planes.

Because I'm using FF miles to get to Paris (and an open jaw got fairly complicated - at least for me) I ended up using my miles to fly from the states to Paris (CDG).

After a week or so stay there, I'm flying to Florence via Air France and after my week or so stay there, I'm flying back to Paris for my return flight home. The timing and the pricing seemed to work out so well today, so I booked it all.

I've never been to Paris before (well except for in my many travel dreams). And I've only been to Florence for a day at a time in the past. So I'm very excited that this worked out so well.

Hi, I'm in a similar position. We have air to Paris and home from Venice. In between, we're going to Florence. I'm not thrilled to spend 12 hours on the train from Paris to Florence(unless I'm sleeping for most of it), but the airfare seemed excessive. I was a bit nervous to fly to Pisa, arrive at 10:00 pm and take a bus to Florence.
Rex, Interesting idea... it seems like going to Rome first would be out of the way. Have you done this? How long did it take? How long is the train Rome>Florence?

Well, as far as I know, Tuscany is not South Central, so there is nothing to be "nervous" about to ride a bus at 10 PM between Pisa and Florence. Granted, you should make sure that your hotel is firmly booked with a credit card or something, but there won't be any safety worries.

cybertraveler - Terravision schedules are usually timed to the budget airlines arrivals so you should be able to get on the bus as soon as you arrive. There are also 8 direct trains from Pisa to Florence for 5E. These times might not work for you and you will have to train into Pisa Centrale (1.10E) and then get the train to Florence. http://www.pisa-airport.com/sat/cda/...mp;idSection=3 I find the busses easier as they stow your luggage underneath the bus and you don't have to worry with it.
